Today I met ranger.

Ranger is a wonderful 2 year old full-hearted boy who has been in a homeless animal shelter since December last year.

Once a month I work with Monica's Doggie Rescue to help walk their dogs in need. Ranger was given into the shelter just before Christmas, meaning he didn't know why he spent his holidays in a cage. I can't say how he behaves in the shelter, because I picked him up from Petbarn Alexandria where the wonderful volunteers visit each week with a pup or two from the rescue centre. With most dogs, they are stressed in shelters, so you don't see how they react until they get home.

I can only tell you how wonderful RANGER is. He is full-hearted, loving, full of licks and sniffs. He LOVES a walk and was keen to sniff the grass and trees. I've been told he is GREAT with people and kids, and is suited to a family wanting only one dog-child.

He was incredibly tolerant of my slow pace (don't walk 30km a few days before and expect your hip not to hurt, and your knees not to burn) and at the end of an hour needed a good lie-down. He was intrigued by other dogs and was interested in watching a cat, and sat on command. He was a true gentleman, accepting tidbits and treaties carefully and slowly.

I can only tell you how wonderful he was, and how alert and curious.

Ranger needs a home. If you have more questions about him call Monica's Doggie Rescue at (02) 9486 3133. The address is 2 McCowan Rd, Ingleside NSW 2101 . Please go visit Ranger and give him some time to prove that everything I've said about himis true.
